revap, in your terminal
Turn a PDF or your notes into sets from Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or Claude Desktop, without opening the import page. Then drill them in the terminal, even offline, or have your AI app quiz you.
From PDF to sets, without the import page
Install revap, then run
revap loginandrevap setupto connect your AI app.- Ask your AI app:Use the PDF's full path. A bare file name only works in Claude Code, from the folder you started it in.
make questions from chapter 3 of book.pdf
- It lists the PDF's chapters (or page ranges, if the PDF has no bookmarks). Pick the ones you're studying, check the short preview and say yes. Each chapter becomes a set in your sets, and you can ask it to drill you right away.
Revap cuts the PDF itself, about 20 pages a piece with chapter names from its bookmarks, so your AI app never reads the whole book at once. Nothing is saved until you say yes.
Your AI app reads the pieces you pick, so their text goes to that app's maker (Anthropic, for Claude Code) under your own account, not through Revap. Privacy
Get the exact prompt
Fill this in and paste the prompt into Claude Code. It asks for just what you need, so your AI uses fewer tokens.
Windows: Shift + right-click the file → “Copy as path”. macOS: right-click, hold Option → “Copy as Pathname”.
Paste this into Claude Code
Use revap to make questions from <the chapters you're studying> of <full path to your PDF>. Use the revap-question-writer agent for each piece and don't pick a model for it. Make one set per chapter. Show me the plan first and wait for my yes, then save. Keep your replies short.
Fill in the path and what you're studying to copy it.
- The prompt is short on purpose. Revap adds its question-writing rules to every piece: ask about the ideas, never about chapter titles, page numbers or the author.
- Each piece is written by a small helper on Haiku, so the book's text doesn't pile up in your chat.
- You say yes to the plan before anything is saved. The sets show up in Revap.
Install
You need Node.js 20.9 or newer. Then run one command. No npm, no admin rights.
Windows in PowerShell
irm https://revap.lakansantos.com/install.ps1 | iexPuts revap in %LOCALAPPDATA%\revap and adds it to your PATH. Open a new terminal afterwards if revap isn't found.
macOS and Linux in Terminal
curl -fsSL https://revap.lakansantos.com/install | shPuts revap in ~/.revap/bin. Your shell profile isn't changed: if that folder isn't on your PATH, the installer prints the line to add.
The installer downloads revap from this site only, over HTTPS, and checks it against its published checksum before using it. The checksum catches a broken download. It isn't a signature: revap is built and served by this site, so it's exactly as trustworthy as the site itself.
Get started
- revap login
- Log in with your Revap account (sign up on the website first).
- revap pull
- Download your sets, so you can drill them offline.
- revap start
- Pick a set and drill it: shuffled, timed if you like.
- revap push
- Send results you finished offline to your history.
- revap import notes.docx
- Make a set from a CSV, Excel, text, JSON or Word file.
revap --help lists every command.
Use it from your AI app
- revap setup
- Connects Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or Claude Desktop. Your other settings stay, and a changed file is backed up first.
- revap pdf book.pdf
- The manual way, for an app without Revap's tools: cuts a PDF into pieces of about 20 pages, like the import page here. --piece 1 writes the first piece to a text file for your app to read.
Then ask the app something like “drill me on React basics, 5 questions”, “make a Revap set from my notes” or “make questions from chapter 3 of book.pdf”. The results show up in your history here.
Update
Run the install command again. revap doctor tells you when there's a newer version, and also checks Node, your login and your AI apps. revap never updates itself.
Uninstall
- revap uninstall
- Removes revap and its PATH entry, and offers to take it out of your AI apps. Your login and sets are kept unless you say otherwise.
